Train Like a Ninja: Summer Camp in Slovenia

From Blowguns to Swordsmanship: A Comprehensive Weapons Weekend in Slovenia

This summer, Bujinkan Ninpō Dōjō Slovenia invites martial arts practitioners to immerse themselves in the rich history and skills of the ninja at their forthcoming ninja camp. Set against the backdrop of Japan's turbulent medieval period, where ninja played a pivotal role as spies, bodyguards, and war strategists, this camp promises a comprehensive exploration of ninjutsu—the art of the ninja.

Themed around Bukijutsu, the skill of using various weapons, the camp will delve into techniques ranging from short to long-range combat. Participants will receive hands-on training in Fukiya-jutsu (blow darts), Hōjō-jutsu (rope techniques), Shukō-jutsu (hand claws), Kusarigama-jutsu (sickle and chain), Tō-jutsu (swordsmanship), Sō-jutsu (spear), and Kamayari-jutsu (sickle spear). Additionally, special warrior swimming techniques, known as Sui-ren, will be covered.

Each day will begin with Meisō (meditation), Jūnan Undō (stretching), and Hichibuku Goshin-jutsu (therapeutic methods), setting a balanced and focused tone for the intensive training sessions ahead.

Under the expert guidance of Andrej Jasenc, head teacher of Bujinkan Ninpō Dōjō Slovenia, participants will be in skilled hands. Jasenc's martial arts journey began in primary school, progressing through Full Contact Karate, Jūdō, Shotokan Karate, Aikidō, and Jū Jutsu. His quest for deeper martial understanding led him to ninjutsu, where he trained under Sensei Dean Rostohar. Jasenc quickly advanced, achieving shodan (1st Dan) in just two and a half years, then passing the Sakki test (5th Dan) in 2001 to become Slovenia’s first Shidōshi ('teacher of warrior ways'). He reached Jū Dan (10th Dan) in 2005 and the highest Bujinkan level, Jū Dan Kūgyo Happō Hiken (15th Dan), in 2012.

Founded in 1995, Bujinkan Ninpō Dōjō Slovenia is dedicated to preserving and teaching Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu. The upcoming camp, running from August 30 to September 1, 2024.
